Ann and I drove up from KC (luckily it was yesterday--today is sleeting and snowing!) to finally see a show for this tour...it was my third try! We got there, saw the busses out back, were psyched because they were easy to get to, and went into the venue.
Our seats were perfect, 2nd row center...about 2 or 3 seats to the left of Natalie. We had an older couple in front of us who sat for 90% of the show, and two short women next to them. They were really the ideal seats. *Note: The couple in front of us (front row mind you) bought their tickets from ticketmaster about a month ago...how is that possible!?
The concert was fabulous! I think Ann posted that Natalie was the best she'd ever seen her, and I would wholeheartedly agree. I was a tad nervous after reading some reviews from the tour about how the girls were not into it, kind of mechanical--but I thought they were amazing. Natalie in particular was just dead on--completely into every song, dancing like a MANIAC, funny little banter, etc. She seemed so genuine when she would say thank you after a song, etc.
The set list was great, it felt so long, I loved it! (When there were probably 5 or so songs left, Natalie said something to the effect of "Ok, we're almost halfway done, everybody stretch"...it was cute). I loved the 3 song encore, especially Travelin' Soldier with just the 3 of them. The Neighbor was a highlight, as was Not Ready To Make Nice. I video taped The Neighbor on my digital camera, I'm going to try to upload that in a little while (I have to figure it out first).
After, when we went back out the busses had been put inside. We kind of poked around for a few minutes, but it was bitterly cold so we headed for home.
This is the first tour that I haven't seen 2 shows on, and while that makes me sad, this concert was wonderful so I will survive not seeing another
Pictures to come in the next post...
