Cameras and Camcorders?? |
Lead | |
|
Hey guys, whats up? I just ordered my tickets for the Dec.1st show in Nashville, Section 7 on the floor Woo HoO! anyway, How stricked are they about cameras? and my next question is will there be a meet and greet or backstage passes?? I doubt this..

Do you mean "strict"??
They usually let you have a disposable or a regular digital. No camcorders unless your reg digital has one built in, like mine. And sorry, backstage passes aren't something that usually happen at a Chicks show unless you know someone. ![]() |

at some of the aussie shows they gave out about 15 passes or so for those that were having the most fun so make sure you dance and cheer your booty off! (which I'm sure you were gonna anyway!) lol!

aw, come on, I think we all knew that "stricked" was "strict' we don't need to point out simple spelling errors.

Re: uhh | ||

It's fine to check it, but I don't think posting a "correction" is really necessary. Some folks get upset or offended by it and might take it personally or that you are poking fun. I'm not saying you are, but to avoid such an incident, lets try to refrain from it, please. Thanks Ang!
(trust me, it's difficult on my part as well, seeing as i'm a HUGE english/grammar freak and correct my friends CONSTANTLY!..they hate me for that!) ________________

I agree with Lah. There's no need to point out spelling mistakes. That's just rude. Especially when it's someone's first comment here.
Regarding the cameras- I took my digital in, and took a ton of videos with it. The detectors didn't catch it, no one saw me recording during the show, and no one tried to take it away. I hope you have the same experience. ------------

OMG people.. I do not need the lectures on being offensive. The spelling thing was just a joke. If you can't take a joke -- get off the internet is how I feel :P

Exactly why I said that some may not realize you are joking and may take offense to it and then you in return get upset for being misunderstood...best to just avoid the situation all together!

Joke or not, I still feel that correcting someone's spelling & grammar is rude.

Quote: I'll make sure to tell that to the kids I teach who can't get into college because they write their college essays in ebonics, do horribly on the SAT's because they code their written and verbal in IM/text/shorthand slang and can't speak correctly because they use the wrong words for what they are trying to say. Personally, I don't find it offensive or rude to correct someone. If it means helping someone understand they're doing something wrong, there's a purpose behind it and it doesn't mean it's vindictive or evil. That's all in how you perceive it. If you can't take someone's help or criticism, then obviously you have insecurity issues. At that point then, it might be wise to go back to school and taking some classes in areas where you might need them. For me, it's math and I'm actually going to take a college algebra class... again. It's unfortunate that our day and age has gotten to the point where we are so damned P.C. and touchy about everything under the sun that it gets to the point of "ridiculous." It's conceivable that we all make a mistake now and again and it's understandable that (hopefully) we're all grown ups and can handle a bit of criticism, if not for anything else, but to help correct mistakes so we don't make them in the future. I'm sorry if someone feels that it was a "personal" attack, but if I've been doing the same wrong thing over and over and over and no one points it out to me -- then someone else does, I feel like a bigger ass knowing all along someone could've pointed it out to me before and saved me the frustration of looking like an idiot. Re: huh | ||

Ok the difference here is this is an internet BB where most people purposefully type shorthand, just cause they can and usually don't pay that close attention to spelling (*coughLACEYcough*heehee, love ya L!) . It's NOT a school in which people come to learn spelling, english and grammar.
Ang, you yourself just typed "dunno" in another thread, so let just drop it, shall we? Thanks. ________________

Re: huh | ||

I really didn't wanna get involved here, but this:
Quote: struck a chord. Ang, you yourself are not seemingly able to 'take someone's criticism' as shown by the ridiculousness of this whole thread and your lengthy responses. I am a teacher too and I sure as hell wouldn't teach my kids to write the way I write here on the internet, that would be dumb. Knowing your audience and your medium means you can make a choice about how to write. That's at least part of what I was taught at school and am teaching my kids now. You wouldn't write a formal letter the same way you write a newspaper article, or an essay, or a story, or an IM or....well, you get the picture. At the end of the day, it was a spelling mistake, big deal. Nobody's perfect. If spelling a word wrong is the worst a person does, I think we're OK. And now I am done. __________________
