This actually does have a Dixie Chicks connection. Last year, former Dixie Chick Robin Macy was one of the winners of a $25,000 grant from the Markham
Vineyards in the first Mark Of Distinction Awards. This year my neighbor is one of the 10 finalists for an award. It was just a little over a year ago that my
neighbor Mary lost two of her sons in a drowning accident. In their honor, she is trying to get a skate park built in the local community. But that takes

every day until August 24 for Pitcher Park. If she finishes in the top 2, she'll get a grant.
