Good News and Bad News |

Alright everyone, so when I found out that Keith Sewell was on the record with Martie, I wrote him asking if we should be worried that she's doing solo
stuff.. if that means that the Chicks are done, well he wrote me back. The good news, he said the Chicks will tour again. I'm going to assume that that
means that there will be another album, because I can't see them touring without new material. He said Marties fiddle album is going to be great. Ok now
the bad news..though he did say that they would be touring again, he said it wouldnt be any time soon. I didn't ask him how long the actual wait would be,
figured that was pushing it, but maybe ill break down and ask him eventually. So who knows what that means. It's bad news to me because I figured we'd
be seeing something from them really soon since we've been waiting for three years, but at least now we know that the wait will be paid off eventually.
I'm guessing all of yall know, but in case anyone doesn't, Keith has played guitar for the Chicks on the last two tours.

I figured their hiatus would be a little longer then usual after hearing Martie was doing the solo album, hence no work on a Chicks album, and a lawsuit that
is tentativly scheduled for February of 2010. The Chicks aren't like some artists who feel the need to tour summer after summer with no new material. I
think they would want to get the lawsuit behind them before any thoughts to touring and there is no guarantee that it will start in early 2010. After canceling
dates in 2006, I don't think they want to be doing the same if dates conflicted with having to testify. I see 2011 at the earliest.

Man, I hate hearing that, but I know that your probably right. Part of me wishes that the tables were turned, that they were the artists who just had to be out
there and couldn't stand waiting so long, but I know that it's part of their success because they use that time to make great music. I just wonder if
the incident had never happened, would it be like this, because then they would have so many more people waiting for them like we are.

I always thought the Chicks, and I thought this before the incident, would finish out their contract with Sony and retire. As Emily once said 'there's more to life than being a Dixie Chick'. I just hope I'm wrong in my thinking.

As sad as it makes me, I think that they will be done after their Sony contract is up. They are all moms who are focused on family.

Ugh^^^, I dont like to hear that but you may be right. Man, I've stuck with them hard core since WOS came out (which I'm sure many of u have also). I
would hate to see my fave band disappear. BUT, I'll take another tour any day!!! Solo stuff is cool too.

When does that contract expire? I had never heard that Emily had said that, but it does give me hope that Martie said something along the lines of how she
would hate it if her career had to change and if she couldn't continue the way of life as she had. That was in Shut Up and Sing when they were in the
kitchen. And then when she was sitting on the couch after that concert when she said she almost started crying because she didn't know if it would ever get
back to the level that they were at. I believe that if it was up to Martie they would be going strong for a long time to come, but they do have that Dixie
Chicks pact or what ever where if anyone wants out there done. I do think that out of all of them Martie wishes that none of this had happened. I'm not
questioning their support for one another or saying that I don't have it for them, but when they were having that first meeting with Simon about the
incident, Martie told her to play it down and they didnt. But I definintely get what your saying, I mean if we're saying 2011, then that's five years
since we've seen anything. That's such a long time, and it really stinks, but I'll take five years between every album and tour as long as I know
theres going to be another one, and thanks to Keith, at least we do have that security this time. I just love them so much and would hate to see them fall into
obscurity. I'm sure it'll turn out alright though.

Well two more is more than I was expecting after how long we've had to wait for this next one. But if we're only going to get two more then I hope that
they continue to drag it out.

Who's to say they won't finish out their contract with Sony and then sign with somebody awesomer? (Like maybe the label that I'm currently
interning at and that I'll hopefully be employed by full time by then, and then me and Martie can just go ahead and start being bffs?)
Seriously though, whatever happened to Open Wide Records? I know right now it's an imprint label of Columbia, which is owned by Sony... well once they're no longer under contract with Sony, they can do whatever they want with Open Wide, right? Hmmmmmm.... Oh and also - if they're gonna "retire" like Garth retires and come back every few years and tour, I'm okay with them retiring.

I do think they're done after they finish the contract with Sony. I'm sure they'll reunite every now again when the kids grow up and empty nest
syndrome sets in. I do recall Martie saying in an interview that she wished the Chicks would go on forever, but if they didn't she would still be in music.
I think that's true based off her upcoming solo album. I've always felt like Judy that once the kids started showing up their careers would take a
backseat. They don't seem as energized or ready to record and tour again like they used to. Then again it took U2 5 years between albums as well so who
really knows? I'd hate to see them fade away too, but they can do what they want now they've got the money. I just hope that if they do split that they
announce it instead of dragging fans along with the hope of a new album and tour.

The Dixie Chicks are amazing! I love their sound, voice, everything! Ive also been getting into Mandy Moore recently, she just came out with a new CD called Amanda Leigh. If your diggin the Dixie Chicks then youll definitely love this cd. Mandy has changed her sound a little and matured into a beautiful singer! |
