"I'm a person and I have the right to have my own biological child," Thomas Beatie, of Bend, Oregon, said in the interview, which airs tomorrow. The talk show said Winfrey interviewed Beatie, his wife and their obstetrician along with friends of the couple. Beatie's wife was unable to conceive due to a hysterectomy. "If Nancy could get pregnant, I wouldn't be doing this," he said. - REUTERS

What bothers me is articles saying a man is having a child. It's a woman. I don't care what you've done to yourself, you're still a woman and will be until the day you die. Sorry that's the way I feel. And Oprah has sunk back to the depths of crap TV. I do agree with Jenny in that they shouldn't be exploiting it. It was funny, Robert and I were sitting on the couch talking, and the TV was on in the background, and the commercial for that came on, and I could have SWORN I heard the phrase "pregnant man" but I was like, no, I had to have heard that wrong... apparently not. Sigh. Oh, and just throwing this out there, I could never EVER marry a dude knowing he used to be a chick. Yuck. ____________

I don't even know what to think. Okay, what I want to know is how he got pregnant though. I know he has the female reproductive parts...but what sperm got him pregnant? Maybe they haven't gotten to that part in the story yet? So so weird. And yeah, they should've kept this story to themselves and to anyone who would be involved with their child's life, but don't make it a worldwide story for the child to have to read about and hear about for the rest of his or her life.

Yuck. I think the fact that he/she/whatever kept their reproductive organs because they wanted to get pregnant just proves to show that they're really a woman, both physically and mentally/emotionally/psychologically. ____________

I remember seeing a story online where a couple got married, and then later the husband finally decided he wanted to become a woman, so he had some stuff done(he didn't go all the way though) and so he's a woman now, and he and his wife are allowed to be married....but yet gay couples can't. It's very contradictory. And Sarah I agree. I'm not grossed out by it, but I do find it weird...and I think, at least yes this baby will be loved a lot, compared to other people out there who don't even bother to take care of their kids.

Our whole country is screwed up right now and to me, it's sad that you can have reproductive surgery but not be able to mary your same sex partner. It's also sad that we're in debt trillions of dollars worth, we have HORRIBLE health care, the poor are getting poorer and I could keep going, but THIS story is making the headlines... Aren't there more important things going on in the world? The issue of gay rights is a big one but I don't think this story applies as much as gay marriage.
