I hate that smell. There are times when I open my windows and smell it coming from my neighbor's house. I don't know how people who live with smokers
can put up with smelling like an ashtray all the time. My brother-in-law smokes like a chimney and I hate going to his house because of it. When he comes here,
he has to smoke outside, even in the winter.

Yeah, so I want to see Callie and Hahn hook up...What can I say. And even though I thought I was over MerDer, I'm not. These last 2 epis. just show how
much they NEED to be togther. Grey's is back to it's good self finally. And the 2 soldiers from the last episode...Heartbreaking. I was on the verge of
tears when ***spoiler alert*** he didn't make it through the operation. They were so in love but they couldn't express it with the don't ask
don't tell crap. Just heartwrenching.

How cruel was this. I only watch a handful of TV shows. Two of them, the finale of Survivor and Desperate Housewives, were on tonight against the Penguins
game. I kept my remote busy between Survivor and the game. The Pens won!!! Just 2 wins away from the Stanley Cup finals.

Before I get yelled at for being a homophobe, I do not, let me reitarrate, absolutely do NOT dislike gay people. In fact I have several good friends who are
gay, one of whom is in my living room hanging out with Robert right now as I type.
Having that said, what is yalls definition of marriage? To me and my husband, it's a relationship that parallels and symbolizes the relationship of Christ and the church. So, considering that, I honestly don't understand what's the point in getting married if you're not a follower of Christ - gay or otherwise, honestly. Like, why even bother get married? Why not just live together? Is it just for the tax benefit, or what?

Well marriage means different things to different people, but the issue with gay marriage is that they are not entitled to the same legal benefits as
heterosexual couples are. Religion is not the issue its the fact that there are tax incetives and you can legally entitle your spouse to your things without
need for a will. Also there is the protection of divorce. If a gay couple just lived together, only the partner who owns everything would have rights to things
like property, cars, kids etc. The other partner would have absolutely no legal ground to stand on. Or worse yet, if one partner falls ill, the other one has
no legal standing in the decision making process about their treatment if that partner is incapacitated.
I ask you, if its all about your religion why not just make marriage a religious thing and not a governmental one? Take away the tax incetives and all that jazz and just be joined in the eyes of your church, synogouge or mosque. To me its just not right that one group of people has access to something while another group is completely shut out for no logical reason. |

Along the lines of what Hannah is saying... it makes me think of Christmas. There are people without a religious bone in their body who "celebrate"
Christmas. Ticks me off.

Except that I know some people who are gay and Christians and would like to get married. I don't know, based on gay people I know and what I've read in
psychology, I believe gay people are born that way. Granted there may be some people who just don't know what they are and may choose to be gay just for
something different, but I think gay people deserve to get married. Fine if we don't call it marriage, call it a union, but I think they deserve the same
benefits as married heterosexual couples.

My thing is, I don't think God would create someone gay and then tell them "you're not allowed to be that way." You know?
Or, to argue it from a different perspective... just because we have certain desires doesn't mean we are born with them or that they are right. A person might have the DESIRE to, say, have sex with multiple partners, or have pre-marital sex, but that doesn't make it right. They can't go, "Oh, I'm a before-marriage sex-haver, it's just the way I was born, I can't help it, it's who I am" or "Oh I have to have sex with lots of people, it's how I was born." Or, to take it in a direction other than sex, people can't say "Oh I am a thief/liar/murder/insert anything else that society deems morally wrong/etc person but that's how I was born, so that's the lifestyle I'll live." No, people have those desires because of their sinful nature (or if you don't believe in sin, insert whatever word you want to for "something immoral" - and while we're on that track if there is morality and goodness what are you comparing it to, if there's no God... but I digress). People have those desires, but they can use their free will to CHOOSE to live a different life. Sorry if my views offend anyone... like I said before, I have a love for all people, and I don't think I'm better or worse than anybody else, gay or straight or whatever. We're all imperfect people living in a fallen world and desperately in need of the grace that a very loving God freely gives!!

One's sexuality is like what hand you write with. Why is it that some people are lefties. Nobody can explain that one. It's not because you actually
choose it but are predisposed to it. I think it's silly when people say homosexuality is a chosen lifestyle. Nobody says that about being a heterosexual.
You don't get to a certain age and say 'I'll be straight' or 'I'll be gay'. You just are what you are. And that's all I got to
say because we've been through this what seems like hundreds of times and our opinions will never change.
I've got a ticket to game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals!!!!!!!!!

You took the words right out of my mouth Judy. If you choose to be gay, then you must choose to be heterosexual as far as I see it. I also feel that it
isn't a sinful or imoral thing to want to be in a legal binding agreement with someone you love. I don't see it as a lifestyle I see it as a human
condition that is no different than being heterosexual. You love who you love. It doesn't matter what your personal opinion of gay marriage is the fact of
the matter is that it is wrong to deny it to them simply because some don't agree.

It just breaks my heart to see how much hurt and anger is centered around this topic whenever it comes up... Satan will do anything to turn peoples' focus
off of Christ... I mean okay yeah the Bible says it's wrong for a man to have sex with another man... but that's one commandment that's mentioned a
handful of times in the Bible, and guess what else, God loves gay people sooo much! He wants them to come to Him, just as they are, not try and "be"
straight first, come to Him just as they are and He will take care of the rest. You know what else the Bible says? To love your neighbor as yourself... to take
care of the widows and orphans... for those who are blessed with much to give to those who have little... so many people who call themselves Christians and who
are SO quick to point the finger at people for being gay but are also ignoring these other commandments, and that just makes my heart sick. Yeah, you
shouldn't live in sin. I don't understand the people who call themselves gay Christians, because Christian means follower of Christ, and you're not
following Christ if you live a lifestyle that He said not to live. But guys, Satan USES all of this to take your eyes off Christ! He's been doing it since
the dawn of time, he's a very good deceiver and he's on a rampage 'cause he knows his time is limited. Anything he can do to distract you from
what's really important, he'll do.

Well, but let's say someone has sex before marriage-that is considered a sin, so that person shouldn't consider themselves a Christian?
I know there are some gay people who have said if they could be straight they would, and they have gone to God and they didn't feel a change-I think it's something psychological. **** Sad news. The 5-year-old daughter of contemporary Christian singer-songwriter Steven Curtis Chapman died after being struck by an SUV in the driveway of the family's Nashville-area home late Wednesday afternoon (May 21). Maria Sue Chapman was playing in the area with several other children. Her teenaged brother did not see her in the driveway when he struck her with the Toyota Land Cruiser he was driving. A spokesman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol termed it "a terrible accident" and said no charges are expected to be filed. The child was the youngest in the family and one of three daughters adopted by Chapman and wife Mary Beth. The entire family was home at the time of the accident. Steven Curtis Chapman, 45, has won 51 Dove awards from the Gospel Music Association and five Grammys. |

Well, but let's say someone has sex before marriage-that is considered a sin, so that person shouldn't consider themselves a Christian? I don't understand someone calling themself a gay Christian any more than I understand somebody who says they're a Christian but has sex with their boyfriend or girlfriend, or who says they're a Christian but is having an affair, etc etc. I mean, we're all sinners, there's nobody that's ever lived a perfect life, ever, except Jesus... we all mess up. But there is a huge difference between living IN the sin - blatant disregard for what God says to do - and messing up but repenting (180 degree turn the other way), accepting God's forgiveness and moving forward in the other direction. That story about Steven Curtis Champan's daughter makes me feel ill. When Robert told me last night, I honestly wanted to throw up.... my heart breaks for their family...

Since we're on the topic can I just say how much I love Callie and Erica together!!! The Grey's finale was amazing and totally back to form. The Office
and Grey's had the two best finales to end this crappy, shortened season.
PS, Taylor Swift was "on" Ellen the other day and said she was "happy" and "almost in tears" when she found out Ellen was engaged and said "if she was watching, congratulations." I'm so happy there's someone other than the Chicks that isn't scared to step outside the "country music" lines and I LOVE Taylor Swift for this! Her cd is amazing also

"Like, why even bother get married? Why not just live together? Is it just for the tax benefit, or what?"
Wow. That sentence was honestly one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard in my entire life. Are you serious?! Yeah, people who are gay just want to get married because of the tax benefit. I don't believe what you believe, and I don't say anything usually because everybody is entitled to whatever they want to think is right, but I just have to say something this time. That is ridiculous. I think gay couples, like every couple, want to get married to show their love and commitment to each other for the rest of their lives and not just for some extra cash in their pockets come rebate time. "I honestly don't understand what's the point in getting married if you're not a follower of Christ - gay or otherwise, honestly." I get how you view marriage, ...and thats fine for YOU....but not everybody views it the same way as you. Your view isn't the only right way. Just because that is what you think, doesn't mean other people even come close to thinking that. Marriage is about other things. And why isnt that okay too? Be a little open-minded Hannah, honestly.
